The girls were sitting,<\/p>\n
On the trunk of the car,<\/p>\n
Looking at the world,<\/p>\n
Near and far,<\/p>\n
When one noticed the emblem,<\/p>\n
And asked what it was,<\/p>\n
I read, \u201cNissan\u201d,<\/p>\n
And told them what it does.<\/p>\n
When they heard the word,<\/p>\n
They did something bizarre.<\/p>\n
They both stuck their tongues,<\/p>\n
Out really far.<\/p>\n
Puzzled, I asked them,<\/p>\n
What they were doing.<\/p>\n
They pointed once more,<\/p>\n
So I told them again.<\/p>\n
Both tongues came out,<\/p>\n
As if pulled by a cord,<\/p>\n
And I almost decided,<\/p>\n
This should just be ignored.<\/p>\n
When it suddenly hit me,<\/p>\n
What it was about \u201cNissan\u201d:<\/p>\n
The girls had thought,<\/p>\n
That I had said, \u201ctongue: lisan.\u201d<\/p>\n
But listen and see,<\/p>\n
What else they do,<\/p>\n
To constantly remind me,<\/p>\n
That they are two:<\/p>\n
After drinking their milk,<\/p>\n
They always exchange,<\/p>\n
And take each other\u2019s cup,<\/p>\n
Which is very strange,<\/p>\n
Since they both drink the same milk,<\/p>\n
Or water or juice,<\/p>\n
And it must taste identical,<\/p>\n
So what is the use?<\/p>\n
And one will come and tell me,<\/p>\n
When the other is crying,<\/p>\n
By making the sign,<\/p>\n
And reproducing her whining,<\/p>\n
So I tell her to kiss her,<\/p>\n
And make her feel better,<\/p>\n
But they get confused,<\/p>\n
And the crying one kisses the other.<\/p>\n
Then bathtime comes along,<\/p>\n
And they climb into the tub,<\/p>\n
Oh, the joy of splishy-splashing,<\/p>\n
And the dread of rub and scrub,<\/p>\n
Each attempts to run away,<\/p>\n
And hide behind her twin,<\/p>\n
They try to push each other towards me,<\/p>\n
While I wait to see who\u2019ll win.<\/p>\n
I grab one little girl,<\/p>\n
Try to hold her in a vise,<\/p>\n
She escapes; I grab the other,<\/p>\n
Oh, I\u2019ve scrubbed this one twice!<\/p>\n
Now it\u2019s finally time to sleep,<\/p>\n
Change diapers, say our prayer,<\/p>\n
I kiss them both and lay them in bed,<\/p>\n
Each one grabs her bear.<\/p>\n
All is quiet in their room,<\/p>\n
As I start to close the door.<\/p>\n
Then one says something to the other,<\/p>\n
Oh, how I wish I could hear more.<\/p>\n
But these little girls who babble,<\/p>\n
Never let me in on what they say,<\/p>\n
They laugh and talk back and forth,<\/p>\n
So I turn and tiptoe away\u2026<\/p>\n
