There are plenty of memes that want to know all about your book history and your all-time greats and your grand ambitions, but let\u2019s focus on something more revealing: the books you\u2019re actually reading now, or just read, or are about to read. Let\u2019s call it The Immediate Book Meme.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
1. What book are you reading now?<\/p>\n
Papal Economics<\/em> \u2013 Review book, not light, but the book club is motivating me.\u00a0 Gotta quit playing Words with Friends and turn my brain on for a bit.<\/p>\nThe World Until Yesterday<\/em> \u2013 On loan from a friend.\u00a0 Jared Diamond\u2019s book about anthropology and stuff \u2013 light reading, interesting, and quite the example of how an author\u2019s worldview permeates everything he writes.<\/p>\n2. What book did you just finish?<\/p>\n
I\u2019m pretty sure Elizabeth Scalia\u2019s I Don\u2019t Want to be a Hoo-er*<\/em> is the only book I\u2019ve read in the last few months.\u00a0 That, and drafts of a novel series sitting on my little computer.\u00a0 Been doing much more writing than reading lately.<\/p>\nUPDATE: I just remembered that I read Brian Kenelly\u2019s The Two Statues<\/em> the other night in the ER.\u00a0 Not my usual genre, but it was a fun story once I suspended disbelief.<\/p>\n3. What do you plan to read next?<\/p>\n
I\u2019m planning to re-read Fr. L\u2019s Gargoyle Code<\/em> for Lent.\u00a0 Also, the Bible.<\/p>\n4. What book do you keep meaning to finish?<\/p>\n
Holy Sex!<\/em> By Dr. Greg Popcak.\u00a0 Looks like a good book from thumbing through it, but it showed up just as I was finishing up Family Honor\u2019s online course, and frankly one can only read so much about sex before the mind short circuits.<\/p>\n5. What book do you keep meaning to start?<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve got a box full of review books I keep meaning to crack open.\u00a0 Titles from Deanna Klingel, Laura Pearl, Neil Combs, more Dr. Greg, David Cavillo . . . giant list.\u00a0 All good stuff, as far as I can tell.\u00a0 Also a handful of lives of saints my kids are reading for school, and which I always enjoy.\u00a0 And there\u2019s Prentice-Halls Physical Science<\/em> . . . let\u2019s not go there.<\/p>\n6. What is your current reading trend?<\/p>\n
