\u201cWhy are we scared today preachers? Everybody\u2019s coming out of the closet but the saints.\u201d \u2013 Alabama Pastor Cedric Hatcher<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Pastor Cedric Hatcher recently expressed<\/a> his bewilderment over the \u201cnormalization\u201d of same-sex marriage at a recent Birmingham City Council meeting.<\/p>\n

<\/iframe><\/p>\nHe asked, \u201cWhy are citizens allowing same-sex advocates to parade gay couples in front of children as if it were normal?\u201d<\/p>\nHe passionately argued: gay marriage is not normal, nor is it Biblical.<\/p>\nIn Alabama, probate judges have been issuing\u00a0marriage licenses to same-sex couples\u2014against state law that still prohibits it. Alabama\u2019s Supreme Court, under Chief Justice Roy Moore, recently agreed to consider a petition submitted by the pro-family groups, the Alabama Policy Institute and Alabama Citizens Action Program, asking the court to halt all state probate-issued same-sex marriage licenses.<\/p>\nAlabama is not alone in this conflict\u2014 only 11 states recognize same-sex marriage through legislation or popular vote out of the 37 states that currently allow same-sex marriage. (The state of Texas, among others, is asserting its 10th Amendment right.)<\/p>\nAt issue is whether or not the U.S. Supreme Court can dictate to Alabama or any other state that it must legalize same-sex marriage.\u00a0Like Texas, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal recently <a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/dlOnySi6SK4\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">argued \u201cno\u201d<\/a> on CNN, advocating that he will not change the definition of marriage.<\/p>\nHowever, the U.S. Supreme Court has already biased the outcome of four same-sex marriage cases to be ruled on in the next few months because of its previous contradictory rulings, and because two of its justices have not yet recused themselves.<\/p>\nThe court ruled in June 2013 by rejecting part of the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, that legally married same-sex couples must receive the same federal benefits as their heterosexual counterparts.<\/p>\nHowever, in\u00a0United States v. Windsor\u00a0the Court did not hold that same sex marriage should be recognized in every state.<\/p>\nLater, the court noted, \u201cThe definition of marriage is the foundation of the State\u2019s broader authority to regulate the subject of domestic relations with respect to the \u2018[p]rotection of offspring, property interests, and the enforcement of marital responsibilities.'\u201d<\/p>\nJustices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan must recuse themselves because they have both performed same-sex marriage ceremonies.<\/p>\nJustice Ginsburg also publicly sought to normalize homosexuality,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/goo.gl\/frFelS\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">saying,<\/a>\u00a0\u201cThe change in people\u2019s attitudes on that issue has been enormous. In recent years, people have said, \u2018This is the way I am.\u2019 And others looked around, and we discovered it\u2019s our next-door neighbor \u2014 we\u2019re very fond of them. Or it\u2019s our child\u2019s best friend, or even our child.\u201d<\/p>\nOld Testament scholar and professor Dr. Bruce Waltke notes,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\u201cImmanuel Kant said you can tell whether or not something is right or wrong by whether it can be practiced universally. Same sex marriage practiced universally is suicide. To survive gays depend for their cultural survival on couples that birth the next generation. In Deuteronomy 22 the law against transgender dress (v. 5) is followed by the law permitting the eating of young chicks but not the mother (vv. 6-7).\u00a0 Both laws aim to preserve future life; and so does the next one (v. 8). Same sex and destroying the mother, destroy future life.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\nGov. Mike Huckabee adds, \u201cThe Supreme Court is not the end all be all. It doesn\u2019t have the final constitutional word. The legislative and executive branches don\u2019t have to agree with the Court. We have three branches of government and we need people with the moral and political courage to speak out against judicial supremacy.\u201d<\/p>\nSince virtue, truth, and righteousness are key components of freedom\u2014at issue in America is whether liberties can exist apart from God; and if so, what are the costs to our nation for living apart from God.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"\u201cWhy are we scared today preachers?
