David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father\u2019s household heard about it, they went down to him there. ^{2\u00a0<\/sup>All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him.<\/em> -1 Samuel 22:1-2<\/p>\n}

Difficult times are those that bring forth some of our world\u2019s greatest leaders. David was one of those leaders. On the run, fleeing for his life, he holed up in a cave in the wilderness. But he soon discovered he was not alone.<\/p>\n

His family and those in distress joined him. A band of four hundred men would soon form a movement that would later lead to David becoming king. He would not have imagined it at the time, but his cave was the beginning of his reign, the tough time in his journey on the road to becoming a great leader.<\/p>\n
