^{29\u00a0<\/sup>God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. ^{30\u00a0<\/sup>Solomon\u2019s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East, and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.<\/em> -1 Kings 4:29-30<\/p>\n}}

From the perspective of the author of 1 Kings, Solomon\u2019s strength was found in his wisdom. Despite his vast riches and power as leader of Israel, the focus remained on Solomon\u2019s understanding rather than his military might or fame.<\/p>\n

What if we applied the same priority to our own lives? Rather than assessing our net worth or popularity, what if we evaluated ourselves in terms of wisdom and understanding? If we had the choice to grow in fame or wisdom, which would we choose? If we could decide between a new home or a new level of understanding, which would we decide?<\/p>\n

Our culture prides itself in possessions, status, and wealth. Yet God has a different priority for our lives. He may grant a level or status in this life, but his goal for us is to grow in our understanding of him. When he is our top priority, we will seek to learn and apply all we can about who God is and his plan for our lives. May he be the reason we seek to learn wisdom and live it out today.<\/p>\n
