^{33\u00a0<\/sup>Even after this, Jeroboam did not change his evil ways, but once more appointed priests for the high places from all sorts of people. Anyone who wanted to become a priest he consecrated for the high places. ^{34\u00a0<\/sup>This was the sin of the house of Jeroboam that led to its downfall and to its destruction from the face of the earth.<\/em> -1 Kings 13:33-34<\/p>\n}}

Why did God destroy his own kingdom? Because of the sins of his people. He loved them, and even showed this through his many warnings to them to change their ways.<\/p>\n

But what did King Jeroboam do? He did not change. The result? His kingdom did not last.<\/p>\n

God loves us, too, yet he warns us when we sin against him. When he does, the goal is for us to return to him in repentance and to live closely to him. But if we do not, we should not be surprised when God\u2019s blessing departs and judgment strikes. God does not punish without warning. So when you see his warning signs during times of sin or failure, repent. Do not be like King Jeroboam. Listen to the Lord\u2019s voice. You\u2019ve. Been. Warned.<\/p>\n
