Reform #1 \u2013 Vigorous Exercise Before Homeschool<\/a><\/span>. Here\u2019s how it went today\u2026<\/p>\n

$\"\"$ <\/a>At 9:30, I bundled everybody up in thermal underwear and puffy coats. (Yes, I know I was supposed to do it before the 8:30 school start, but at least we were doing it.) \u00a0We hopped on bikes, road down to the BU Bridge and along the Charles River before we came back along Mass Ave. \u00a0It was only thirty minutes, but the boys loved it. \u00a0They love to shout out the Boston landmarks from across the river as they become visible. \u00a0It\u2019s a view that never gets old.<\/p>\n

When we got home, everyone was tired. \u00a0Mission accomplished.<\/p>\n

School was mildly better today as far as the boys go. \u00a0They stayed on task a few seconds longer. \u00a0Ezra only scratched Zach once. \u00a0Zach only told Ezra that he was doing \u201cbaby work\u201d once. \u00a0And each boy only cried once. \u00a0That\u2019s not nothin\u2019.<\/p>\n

But here\u2019s what was best about it: I<\/span><\/span> <\/strong><\/em>loved it!!!!<\/p>\n

In social sciences, it\u2019s called an\u00a0unintended consequence<\/span> of the intervention. Luckily for us, this one was positive. \u00a0(We very nearly had an exceptionally negative one as Zach was careening down the middle of a lane of oncoming traffic. \u00a0But we\u2019re not going to focus on that now, and my father should refrain from calling with dire warnings.)<\/p>\n

I still feel great four hours later. \u00a0Mommy didn\u2019t glare at anyone all day. Mommy didn\u2019t have to step out of the room to practice her breath prayers. Mommy didn\u2019t hear Zach warning, \u201cShe\u2019s about to lose her temper, Ez.\u201d<\/p>\n

So whether or not the boys see much benefit from Reform #1, it\u2019s here to stay. At least until it gets too cold. \u00a0Then I may have to reconsider reforms of a pharmaceutical nature.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
