Last week, women\u2019s\u00a0health experts<\/a> and other commentators detailed the\u00a0\u201cabusive behaviors\u201d<\/a> exhibited in Trump\u2019s debate performance. And all the lights came on. So THIS is why he\u2019s so hard to watch<\/em>, I thought. This is why our stomachs turn when he talks; when he belittles opponents and unleashes verbal tirades and refuses to stay on topic. He\u2019s not just unpleasant. He is a predator. And any woman who\u2019s ever been in an abusive relationship\u2013physical or otherwise\u2013can see it a mile away. <\/span><\/p>\n

So when the tapes were released yesterday\u2013the ones in which Trump and \u00a0Billy Bush say some appalling things about women<\/a>\u2013it was no surprise. We\u2019ve known this is who he is. Also not surprising was his \u2018sorry-not-sorry\u2019 sort of apology. The one that basically says boys will be boys and dumb bitches can\u2019t take a joke. Typical Trumpiness.<\/p>\n

Even after these two recent revelations, I don\u2019t have much to say about Trump himself that I haven\u2019t already said. But still, I posted the thing about the \u201cmoving on her like a bitch\u201d and \u201cyou can do anything you want when you\u2019re famous\u201d and the \u201cgrab \u2018em by the pussy\u201d remarks, because there are deeper issues here than just the guy running for President.<\/p>\n

While I don\u2019t have anything to say about him that I haven\u2019t said before, I would like to share with you my foray into the world of his followers. Because it is a dark, angry, woman-hating place. And we need to shed some light on it, unless we want to find ourselves dwelling there for eternity. <\/span><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how I found myself spending a Friday evening with a Basket of Deplorables: After following mutliple social media threads about this latest implosion of misogyny, I started to see a common thread\u2026The people defending him, from famous people to friends of mine to HIGH PROFILE CHRISTIAN LEADERS (do not get me started) had the same unconscionable defense: <\/span>all men talk like this about women. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

And, it occurred to me, that in some people\u2019s worlds that is true. I was deeply saddened and angered by that truth, so I tweeted the following: <\/span><\/p>\n
