A couple weeks ago, I skeptically said<\/a> that if young men and their advocates were truly afraid of being deprived of due process in sexual assault allegations, they\u2019d avoid\/advise avoiding hookups like the plague, especially hookups occurring during or after drinking. \u00a0But right now, it\u2019s all griping, no behavior change.<\/p>\n

Today, via instapundit.com, there\u2019s a piece out of the Boston Globe, in which a young man of considerable promise describes his encounter <\/a>with the Yale\u00a0University-Wide Committee on Sexual Misconduct. \u00a0On the basis of nothing more than a complaint lodged by an ex-girlfriend, with no investigation, no gathering of evidence, no process of any kind, he was tarred without any way of clearing his name. \u00a0<\/div>\n

And when I say \u201cpromise\u201d I mean a young man who was about to interview for a Rhodes Scholarship, until an anonymous \u201ctip\u201d meant the interview was rescinded. \u00a0So too was a job offer, as well as the prospect of being an NFL draft pick.<\/div>\n

Conceivably, this isn\u2019t the university\u2019s fault, but the fault of so many others for giving credence to an anonymous tip. \u00a0(Did the tip come from the ex-girlfriend, or from a staffer at the university?) \u00a0But still, a young man was harmed by an accusation which he had no reasonable way of avoiding \u2014 unless it\u2019s his own story that\u2019s false.<\/div>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
