So, look, I\u2019m overdue for a discussion of the current crop of GOP candidates (sorry, progressive readers \u2014 Clinton, Sanders, etc., are not an option), after having half-heartedly watched the debate last night, and I still don\u2019t have much to offer as I\u2019m out for most of the day.<\/p>\n
Some initial thoughts:<\/p>\n
Who are the credible candidates?<\/p>\n
Walker \u2014 between his mannerisms and his appearance generally, looked more like a SNL parody than the real person. \u00a0I think he\u2019s also pushing that \u201cI fought the WI Dems\u201d history too hard, and that too much of his governing in WI is now aimed at positioning himself for the \u201916 race.<\/p>\n
Christie \u2014 I know he\u2019s gotten a lot of grief from conservatives, but I liked him last night \u2014 perhaps simply because he was honest about entitlements.<\/p>\n
Kasich was a surprise to me, and he seems to have a pretty decent resume, though I have the impression he\u2019s trying to be a Huntsman (that is, not just RINO but \u201call my fellow Republicans stink\u201d).<\/p>\n
Rubio \u2014 I just can\u2019t see it. \u00a0Maybe he just lost me at his (proclaimed) change-of-mind on the Gang of 8 bill. \u00a0Maybe I\u2019m just not ready to vote for someone who is, or looks, younger than me.<\/p>\n
Bush \u2014 sorry, but he\u2019s categorically ruled out for political dynasty reasons.<\/p>\n
So that\u2019s it. \u00a0Who am I missing? \u00a0And what do you think?<\/p>\n
