Yes, this is a real thing<\/a>, though for many years of German school I\u2019d always thought it was the school\u2019s way of relabelling Tag der Deutschen Einheit<\/a>\u00a0(\u201cDay of German Unity\u201d) for its families.<\/p>\n

In any event, it gives me the opportunity to share the pictures my husband took of the display in Frankfurt<\/a> of \u201cUnity Men\u201d (Einheitsm\u00e4nnchen<\/em>) created to mark the 25th anniversary of the (re-)unification of Germany.<\/p>\n
