The downed Malaysian plane: \u00a0this is bad all around, but I just don\u2019t have an answer. \u00a0The idea of placing sanctions on Russia still seems bizarre to me \u2014 but the report that France is continuing in its plans to sell weaponry to Russia is pretty appalling.<\/p>\n
The violence in Iraq, including increasing reports that ISIS is expelling ancient Christian communities and destroying ancient churches and monasteries: \u00a0again, shocking. \u00a0What to do?<\/p>\n
Gaza? \u00a0Well, short of tweeting my Give-It-To-Egypt (and bribe them to take it) solution to the State Department, it\u2019s just distressing. \u00a0The US is now prohibiting flights to Tel Aviv because a Hamas rocket has landed in the vicinity? \u00a0While at the same time, the message from the media is that Israel is just a bunch of bullies beating up on poor Hamas \u2014 at least the message communicated by the images of dead Gazan children.<\/p>\n
Today\u2019s news, that two courts came to conflicting decisions on whether the ObamaCare language that a \u201cstate-established exchange\u201d gets subsidies applies to the federally-run exchange: \u00a0of course, the administration\u2019s defiant announcement that this changes nothing is concerning, but I don\u2019t have enough legal background to know whether there\u2019s legal precedent in either direction \u2014 though it worries me that the argument in favor of the administration\u2019s position is basically, \u201cit would be too inconvenient to stop subsidies.\u201d<\/p>\n
