And here\u2019s one of those links: \u00a0\u201cObama \u2018committed to escalating lawlessness\u2019<\/a>\u201d \u2014 a commentary by Sen. Jeff Sessions on breitbart.com.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t really have too much to say on this; or, rather, I don\u2019t really think I have anything to offer besides just linking to what others have written. \u00a0But I find it all very worrisome. \u00a0The administration is claiming \u2014 either out of willful deception or stupidity \u2014 that the surge in minor illegals (up 2000%) has nothing to do with U.S. immigration policy and the \u201cDeferred Action for Child Arrivals\u201d executive amnesty in particular, because, they say,<\/p>\n

\u2018Neither the bill which passed the Senate last year, nor the deferred action program for childhood arrivals would benefit these kids,\u2019 she continued. \u2018They both have cutoff dates. You had to have been in the country by a particular date in order to qualify for either of those things.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But it\u2019s just playing stupid to say that these cutoff dates are meaningful. \u00a0The U.S. has signaled, and continues to signal, that minors arriving in the United States have a special status. \u00a0If a minor brought to the U.S. in 2010 has the \u201chuman right\u201d (as some activists and government officials have said) to be granted legal status here, it stands to reason that the same will be true of a minor arriving in 2014 \u2014 and the fact that these children aren\u2019t immediately shipped home and are, often, apparently, reunited by our government with illegal-immigrant parents, makes that clear. \u00a0(What\u2019s more: \u00a0are these children really all from Central America? \u00a0It would seem that word would get around pretty quickly to Mexican families: \u00a0\u201ctell your kid to claim they\u2019re from Guatemala so they can stay.\u201d) <\/p>\n

This whole situation is becoming more and more disturbing. \u00a0 The message from the Obama administration is basically a mobster-like, \u201cpass the legislation I\u2019m demanding or I\u2019ll do what I want anyway,\u201d with indications that the administration is pursuing a very wide amnesty; in April the Tribune reported<\/a> that they were considering new policies stating that only individuals who had arrived within the two weeks prior to apprehension and had no family ties would be deported. \u00a0There are even calls for prior deportees to be let back into the country.<\/p>\n

There are further reports that word has gotten around that border crossers of all ages are neither being deported nor detained but processed and given court dates (by bureaucrats living in a fantasy world in which they will show up for court), and there\u2019s a movement to encourage border-crossers to simply claim asylum \u2014 not because their claim is true, but because that\u2019ll get them released with a temporary \u00a0legal status and buy them time to disappear.<\/p>\n

Part of me wants to say, \u201cfine, let\u2019s give up and open the border\u201d \u2014 and in exchange, Mexico surrenders its sovereignty. \u00a0We send our soldiers in to smash the cartels, send our oil companies in to manage the natural resources, with the profits going to the U.S. treasury, we apply a special billionaires tax to Carlos Slim, etc.<\/p>\n

But the reality of this \u2014 the fact that our southern border is melting away \u2014 is frightening, and all it takes is for word to get around that this has happened for true chaos to set in. <\/p>\n

UPDATE: \u00a0a new link from Drudge, indirectly: \u00a0\u201cRumors of U.S. haven for families spur rise in illegal immigration<\/a>\u201d in the LA Times. \u00a0Families in Central America, single moms and small children, are hearing that \u201cparents with children are allowed to stay in the United States indefinitely, according to Guatemalan consular officials and parents who are making these trips.\u201d \u00a0And the U.S. government officials dispute that, saying, no, families will be placed into deportation proceedings. <\/p>\n

But that\u2019s beside the point. \u00a0Families are being released and told to appear at a court hearing. \u00a0At the same time, we\u2019ve repeatedly heard the Obama administration announce that their policy is that only criminals will be deported, and that it would be \u201cinhumane\u201d to detain these families until their hearings. \u00a0The LA Times article also says that ankle bracelets are used, but only if the individual shows up for the initial hearing in the first place. <\/p>\n

Hence, the only \u201cmisinformation\u201d these families are getting is that, if they think they\u2019ll get a work permit and formal permission to stay, they\u2019re wrong. \u00a0If they think they will be released and be able to look for a fake ID and\/or work under the table, enroll their children in school, even get a driver\u2019s license (depending on the state) and live a life without too much government interference, then they\u2019re entirely correct. <\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
