Some possible reasons:<\/p>\n
A. \u00a0For his own personal financial enrichment.<\/p>\n
B. \u00a0For the ability to wield power (never mind specific actions, just the desire to be that most powerful person).<\/p>\n
C. \u00a0Relatedly, just, truly, simply, wanting to have the label \u201cpresident\u201d to prove you\u2019re better than anyone else.<\/p>\n
D. \u00a0Having specific policy goals and the conviction that, if these are implemented, the world (OK, country) would be a better place.<\/p>\n
E. \u00a0Not really having any specific policies, but kinda sorta vaguely wanting to be considered as a great president.<\/p>\n
Optimists seem to be hoping that the last of these reasons is correct, and that Trump will, in the end, defer to the experts for all manner of decision-making as a result.<\/p>\n
Pessimists (or perhaps, more correctly, realists) are concerned about reason A, and the risk that Trump\u2019s refusal to hand over control of his company will mean an administration\u00a0aimed primarily at serving Trump, Inc., rather than the American people.<\/p>\n
