Yes, we have a new car, but I can\u2019t show you a picture of the car because it was too\u00a0dark by the time we got to this point. \u00a0But it\u2019s siren red, which is, I think, pretty cool in a world that seems right now to consists of black and white cars.<\/p>\n

And, yes, it\u2019s American-made. \u00a0OK, technically it\u2019s Canadian made, but that counts the same anyway. \u00a0And you can tell me that it\u2019s \u201cGovernment Motors\u201d but I don\u2019t care. \u00a0We\u2019ve owned Chevys nearly all my adult life, with the exception of the Pontiac Phoenix that carried me through grad school, and the VW Golf that we had when we lived in Germany. \u00a0Our first \u201cnew\u201d car was a purple Chevy Cavalier, followed by a Malibu, and a Trailblazer, and now two Impalas in a row \u2014 though our second car, and the one I primarily drive, is Dodge Grand Caravan, because, yes, as a family with 3 kids, we need a vehicle with cargo space and extra seating. \u00a0And, by the way, the first Impala was chosen with an eye toward being able to fit a car seat and two booster seats in the back; and we stayed with it in order to fit three growing boys in the back. \u00a0And the car has some nice bells and whistles \u2014 leather seats, a sun roof, an array of electronics, and the like.<\/p>\n
How would the Impala have compared to other vehicles \u2013 a Toyota or a Honda or whatever? \u00a0To be honest, I don\u2019t know. \u00a0My husband did take a look at the Passat, but wasn\u2019t as impressed as he thought he\u2019d be.<\/p>\n
And maybe the next car after this will have some alternate-fuel technology to it. \u00a0Well, actually the next one will replace the rusting minivan, but the next car after that, maybe.<\/p>\n
