So after months and months of renewal notices, my 3-year subscription to The Economist has lapsed. \u00a0And holy smokers! (to put it politely) is it expensive, more so than I had remembered, with rates ranging from $1.99 to $3.04 an issue, depending on subscription type, compared to Time Magazine\u2019s $30 a year. \u00a0(I was curious what the difference in cover price at the newsstand was, but I couldn\u2019t find this in a quick google search.)<\/p>\n
Am I going to switch to Time? \u00a0No. \u00a0But, wow, is this a huge difference in price. \u00a0And what\u2019s fueling my indecision is this: \u00a0The Economist, unlike any other paper or magazine I\u2019m familiar with, charges extra to get access to The Economist online. \u00a0For just the magazine arriving at my doorstep every Saturday, it\u2019s $127 a year (modestly cheaper for multi-year subscriptions). \u00a0To add digital access, it\u2019s $155 a year. \u00a0Would I really use \u00a0$28\u2019s worth of digital content? \u00a0Probably not. \u00a0But it\u2019s still new to pay extra for digital content.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
