In the past, when we haven\u2019t had a \u201cbig\u201d vacation, we\u2019ve spent a week in Grand Haven, Michigan. \u00a0Lovely place \u2014 great beach, great bike paths, a cute town area, etc. \u00a0But this year we may not be able to make plans until April or later, because we\u2019ll be waiting to see if any of the \u201cinternship\u201d programs for my high-school junior son pan out, and what kind of time constraints that puts on us. \u00a0And by then, our favorite rental houses\u2019ll be booked up.<\/p>\n
At the same time, when my aunt & uncle from St. Louis were in town for the big 50th anniversary shindig (ok, it was relatively small as shindigs go), we talked about having a mini-family-reunion-type vacation this summer.<\/p>\n
So I\u2019m looking for somewhere that\u2019s halfway between Chicago and St. Louis, or at least not too far from either of those cities, that\u2019s good for a week or at least a long weekend. \u00a0Any recommendations?<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
