Sure, this is just a bit of trivia, mostly, but I remember clearly the statement on their website (paraphrased): \u00a0\u201cAll our students are super-smart and worthy of a merit scholarship. \u00a0Therefore, we don\u2019t offer any, and just provide need-based financial aid.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, this was a long time ago. \u00a0Not as long ago as my grad school days, when the notion of looking things up on a website was in its infancy anyway, but I would keep an eye on them periodically since then, largely with the question, \u201chow does anyone make the intentional decision to pay $70,000\/year to send their kid there, if they\u2019re upper middle class and ineligible for financial aid?\u201d<\/p>\n

That\u2019s changed. \u00a0The new statement<\/a> is, \u201cThe selection process is very competitive. About three percent (65 students) of enrolled first-year students receive merit aid.\u201d<\/p>\n

Which is interesting; nothing monumental but worth sharing, since I\u2019ve been reading and writing about college costs.<\/p>\n
