Front page:\u00a0 \u201cCracks visible in GOP unity\u201d \u2014 with two stories, \u201cIllinois workers, visitors get dose of standoff\u201d and \u201cModerates finding voice amid ongoing stalemate.\u201d\u00a0 The first is, as you might expect, stories about the impact of the shutdown.\u00a0 The second focuses on moderate Republicans wanting to accede to the Democrat\u2019s \u201cclean CR\u201d demand, with the conclusion being that hard-liners will ultimately lose.<\/p>\n
Also, \u201cRocky start to enrollment for insurance: internet volume blamed for glitches, officials laud interest.\u201d\u00a0 Yeah, the Trib\u2019s reporters are consistently cheerleaders for the law, including this article, beginning with a profile of a 58 year old businesswoman and cancer survivor who currently pays
$731\/month for insurance through the state\u2019s high risk pool.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
In the op-ed columns:\u00a0 <\/p>\n
\u201cGovernment shutdown has a simple explanation\u201d by Cass Sunstein.\u00a0 The explanation is that \u201cthe most extreme members of the Republican Party\u201d are caught in an echo chamber.\u00a0 And \u201cWashington\u2019s three-party Congress\u201d by Clarence Page.\u00a0 The third party?\u00a0 Radical Republicans.<\/p>\n
