You know the old saying, \u201cwhen you\u2019re in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging\u201d? <\/p>\n

Here in Illinois, we do things a little differently. What\u2019s the harm in digging a little more? <\/p>\n

We\u2019re in debt, have a lousy credit rating, need a big bucket of cash to fund our pensions \u2014 but the instant ADM hints they\u2019d locate 100 corporate jobs out-of-state, our top-notch legislators are scurrying to give them tax breaks<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Of course, it would be foolish for ADM to locate anywhere else but Chicago, but it\u2019s a knee-jerk reaction. It\u2019s embarassing, really, to have a legislature this incompetent.<\/p>\n

UPDATE:\u00a0 Oops.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t realize the above article was behind a paywall;\u00a0 apparently when you land on it due to a google search you can read it without problems, but the minute you link to it, you run into the paywall.\u00a0 (Wonder how many other times I\u2019ve referenced paywall\u2019d articles without knowing it, and with too small a readership to tell me?)<\/p>\n
