Earlier today, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green delivered remarks on the floor of congress trying to deflect attention away from all of the crazy shit she has said\u2026before a vote that ultimately stripped her of her committee seats.\u00a0 One section of her speech particularly stood out\u2026<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
I believe in God with all my heart and I\u2019m so grateful to be humbled, to be reminded that I\u2019m a sinner and that Jesus died on the cross to forgive me for my sins. And this is something that I absolutely rejoice in today to tell you all and I think it\u2019s important for all of us to remember none of us are perfect, none of us are. And none of us can even come close to earning our way into heaven just by our acts and our works but it\u2019s only through the grace of God. And this is why I will tell you as a member of this Congress, the 117th Congress, I am a passionate, I\u2019m a competitor, I\u2019m a fighter. I will work with you for good things for the people of this country but the things I will not stand for is abortion. I think it\u2019s the worst thing this country has ever committed.<\/em><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Why this shit is bullshit (or fake religion)\u2026<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Why do people constantly make appeals to their belief in something with all of my heart<\/em>?\u00a0 Is it not enough to simply believe\u2026or is simple belief not strong enough to convince others that you believe?\u00a0 Why must we convince anyone of anything?\u00a0 Why not just believe and let your life speak to those beliefs?\u00a0The problem with this situation\/speaker is the same problem with many others\u2026this speech is about words when actions would have spoken much louder than anything that she could have said.\u00a0Ultimately, her actions are speaking louder and that is why she feels the need to cover them up with words.<\/p>\n\u201cto be humbled, to be reminded that I\u2019m a sinner<\/em>\u201d is a classic Christian trick.\u00a0 ie If I convince you that you and I are both pieces of shit\u2026then you have no standing to judge me.\u00a0 While it is true that we are all sinners, that doesn\u2019t mean that sin is devoid of consequence.\u00a0 You can\u2019t cleanse yourself with words\u2026\u00a0 Love is the only power that can cleanse.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Congresswoman Greene is a sinner who keeps on sinning by refusing to see that her words\/actions are sinful.\u00a0 Deflecting is fake spirituality\/bullshit.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Modern conceptions of the atonement have led to some very dark places.\u00a0 \u201cthat Jesus died on the cross to forgive me for my sins<\/em>\u201d\u00a0 The crucifixion is about grace for the world.\u00a0The problem with making it so personal\/specific is that it quickly leads one to a place of arrogance.\u00a0 The question is not about individual forgiveness as much as it is about the individual\u2019s place in universal redemption.\u00a0 To think otherwise, is to think you can get away with saying\/doing whatever the hell you want\u2026because you are forgiven.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Congresswoman Greene didn\u2019t apologize to all of the people that she has hurt with her words\u2026because Jesus has already forgiven her of her sins?\u00a0 This is fake spirituality\/bullshit.<\/p>\n

\u201cnone of us are perfect<\/em>\u201d\u00a0 In life, perfection is not the standard.\u00a0Decency is.<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
Congresswoman Greene has treated people like shit\u2026and expects such actions to be forgotten\/looked past because nobody is perfect?\u00a0 There is nothing spiritual about such bullshit.<\/p>\n

While grace abounds, grace abused is grace denied.\u00a0 \u201cAnd none of us can even come close to earning our way into heaven just by our acts and our works but it\u2019s only through the grace of God.<\/em>\u201d\u00a0 I have met so many people who think they can talk to\/treat people however they want because there is\u2026grace.\u00a0 To those people, let me make something very clear\u2026<\/p>\nJesus didn\u2019t die so that Congresswoman Greene can say whatever she wants with impunity.\u00a0 Such thinking is fake religion\/bullshit.<\/p>\n

\u201cbut the things I will not stand for is abortion. I think it\u2019s the worst thing this country has ever committed.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n
And finally\u2026\u00a0Let me assure you\u2026abortion don\u2019t have a damn thing to do with whether or not Congresswoman Greene should be or is going to be or was punished for treating people like shit.\u00a0 The mention of abortion should let you know that this was not a confession of sin\u2026this was a charade.<\/p>\n

Congresswoman Greene\u2019s textbook fake spirituality\/bullshit makes me think that I had her as a Sunday School teacher growing up.<\/p>\n
