When a Trailer Park Kid Freezes to Death.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
*His funeral was just a few days\u00a0 ago\u2026<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Growing up, I was taught to see trailer parks as the epicenter of trash.\u00a0 While I don\u2019t remember exactly who taught me such a thing, I know that I wasn\u2019t born with such an idea\u2026therefore\u2026I was taught\u2026right?\u00a0 I\u2019m sure that I\u2019m not the only one who grew up in such a way\u2026looking down on those who we assume are beneath us.\u00a0 Capitalism has a way of destroying our children\u2026it teaches them that a trailer is not the home of intelligence or success.\u00a0 Thankfully, the heart of the individual can be healed\u2026we can learn to love\u2026I did\u2026but the souls of societies take much longer.\u00a0 There has to be a revelation.\u00a0 There has to be an exorcism.\u00a0 There has to be something much more than politeness.\u00a0There has to be genuine fully developed love\u2026for the neighbor and the self.\u00a0 Without such a development, we will continue to mistake divisions of class as division of souls.\u00a0 I wonder what people thought about that boy in Houston before he died?\u00a0 I wonder how many people were thinking about the folks in his trailer park before he died?\u00a0 I wonder what the difference would have been for him if he had lived somewhere else?\u00a0 I wonder\u2026perhaps in our wonderings arise our convictions.\u00a0 In fact\u2026didn\u2019t Jesus say something about living in the trailer without heat?<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
She was trying as hard as she could.\u00a0 The trailer just didn\u2019t seem to be enough.\u00a0 Yet\u2026there was nowhere else to go.\u00a0 The temperature kept on dropping.\u00a0 How can you prepare for something like this?\u00a0 She quickly kept gathering clothes.\u00a0She got all of the blankets that she could.\u00a0 The pile kept growing on top of the kids.\u00a0 How can you know when enough is enough?\u00a0 If you don\u2019t know\u2026if you have no experience\u2026you can\u2019t\u2026you just do the best you can to survive.\u00a0 When she laid them down\u2026she put her older son right next to his baby brother\u2026thinking they would keep each other warm.\u00a0 Under the pile of blankets, they fell asleep.\u00a0 Through the night\u2026the blankets proved insufficient.\u00a0When she went to wake them\u202611-year-old Christian Pineda (Pavon) was dead\u2026a victim of hypothermia.\u00a0 In wealthier parts of town, people were treating the arctic weather as a vacation.\u00a0 In the trailer park, it proved to be a death sentence.\u00a0Does anyone care?\u00a0 Make no mistake\u2026Pineda is dead because we didn\u2019t give him any heat.\u00a0 We were to worried about our own.<\/p>\n

Jesus lives in the places that we loathe.\u00a0 Jesus dies in the places that we loathe.\u00a0 Jesus saves in the places that we loath.\u00a0 Jesus\u2026<\/p>\n
Do you hear it?<\/p>\n
The trailer park is calling.<\/p>\n
