In the busyness of Holy Week I forgot to tell you my Gospel reflection<\/a> for Matthew 26:14-25<\/a><\/strong><\/em> went up last Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Interesting writing thing to know about:<\/strong> The way these work at CatholicMom.com is that you get your assignment and submit six months of reflections at a time.\u00a0 Which means that you aren\u2019t necessarily in the season when you\u2019re writing.\u00a0 And it means that when they finally go live, you get to see a bit of what you were thinking so many months ago.\u00a0 I\u2019ve found these to be both fun and spiritually helpful, so I\u2019d recommend that if you are a Catholic writer you consider volunteering to take on a reflection a month.<\/p>\n

Back to the story.<\/strong>\u00a0 What caught my eye was that \u201ccertain man\u201d left anonymous in the account of the preparations for the Last Supper. I argue that it wasn\u2019t forgetfulness, but caution, that explains the silence:<\/p>\n

We bloggers tend to leave names off, or use pseudonyms, when we tell stories.\u00a0 Innocent stories, even.\u00a0 We respect our friends\u2019 and even our enemies\u2019 privacy: We tell the tale, but we leave the man out of it.\u00a0 We instinctively know that you don\u2019t just splash someone\u2019s name around.\u00a0 That personal stories leave the person exposed.\u00a0 Vulnerable.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And why the caution?\u00a0 Because Christianity makes people mad.\u00a0 Deadly mad.<\/p>\n
