At New Evangelizers, I explain why now is the perfect time for an Easter Egg hunt, deadline: Pentecost<\/a>.\u00a0 Easter Friday \u2014 that\u2019s the solemnity that falls a week after Good Friday \u2014 we drove to a park across town to meet friends for egg hunt that actually happened during Easter<\/em>:<\/p>\n

\n

I try not to be insufferable about it. If this or that friend desperately wants my child to go hunt eggs mid-Lent, I don\u2019t throw a temper-tantrum. I\u2019ll suspend disbelief if it\u2019s so very important to you.\u00a0 But even my children now know that it\u2019s just plain weird to hunt eggs on Good Friday.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Why fight the tide and try to match up our lives with the liturgical year?<\/p>\n

The goal is to align our body, heart, mind, and soul.<\/p>\n

During a season of preparation, we prepare. During a season of penance, we repent. During a season of feasting, we feast.<\/p>\n

Humans are created to live in time.\u00a0 We grow and change and work out our salvation minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

What to do if you ate all the Peeps on Palm Sunday . . . is it too late for you?\u00a0 Are you unredeemable? I say not:<\/p>\n

\n

If you\u2019re off-kilter spiritually, get yourself back on track by making your physical life match the liturgical year. Put some flowers on the table.\u00a0 Get a nice coffee cake to serve with breakfast this Sunday.\u00a0 Put on the bunny ears if it helps you.\u00a0 If you aren\u2019t already doing so, consider lining up your prayer life with the liturgical year by reading the daily Mass readings<\/a>, or following along with one of the hours of the divine office<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And all this isn\u2019t just good for you, it\u2019s good for evangelization.\u00a0 Read the whole thing here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
