Over at the Catholic Writers Guild<\/a>, I share my private correspondence for the good of many. \u00a0Because yes, if you\u2019re a Catholic writer \u2014 or aspiring Catholic writer \u2014 you really ought to register<\/a><\/strong> and attend the Catholic Writers Conference<\/a> if you can.<\/p>\n

The Catholic Writers Conference<\/a>\u00a0is just two months away now, and you might be wondering, \u201cShould I go to Chicago? \u00a0Is it worth it?\u201d You aren\u2019t the only one. From my inbox:<\/p>\n

So the CWG Live conference. My dear friend and fellow Guild member and I want to go. But, we\u2019re going to need some motivation\/conviction\/roughing up.<\/em><\/p>\n

Can you help offer a few inspiring words why we absolutely must attend this year or be destined writing failures?<\/em><\/p>\n

This was my answer:<\/p>\n

Oh goodness, if you can swing the travel, GO!<\/strong><\/p>\n

Why? I came up with four reasons off the top of my head. \u00a0And that\u2019s just benefits for your average Catholic writer who doesn\u2019t even have a manuscript to pitch this year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Why am I so enthusiastic about the Catholic Writers Guild?<\/p>\n

Because I never would have been published if it weren\u2019t for the many years of help I\u2019ve received from the CWG.<\/strong><\/p>\n

You probably have a list of ten things that are wrong with my writing. I assure you, without the CWG, your list would be much, much longer. \u00a0Only you wouldn\u2019t have that list, because I wouldn\u2019t be blogging here at Patheos, nor be published at any of the many other venues that not only accept my work, but sometimes even solicit it actively.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re a writing and marketing super-genius, you don\u2019t need help. \u00a0Enjoy yourself and bravo for using your gifts.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re a normal person who just likes to write stuff, the Catholic Writers Guild exists to help you become the best writer you can be.<\/p>\n
