A few years back a student of mine showed me a tattoo, asked me what I thought, and I informed him that he had some mistakes — it was in Greek and the student didn’t know Greek. But it was a really cool idea for a tattoo. By the way, I don’t have one.
So, today I get a letter from a student and I wonder what you would give him for advice:
How would I go about making sure that I get an accurate Hebrew tattoo of the word “remember” (verb), i.e. “zakar” or “zkr”? It has intense significance to me and I really want to make sure I get the right meaning down, like the one in Exodus 2.24. I’m considering either just using the un-conjugated verb “remember” or the short phrase, “remember the covenant.” Any suggestions? 🙂
What would you tell him?
