Kim Jones, a friend in Dallas (at Irving Bible), has a heart for those suffering from sex trade and she also has the courage to work for justice. We posted about this briefly before, but this is a letter sent to us \u2026 I\u2019ve included the whole letter, some of which isn\u2019t for us, but there\u2019s stuff after the jump for those who want to get involved.<\/p>\n

Thank you for your interest in the problem of human trafficking. Those of us at Irving Bible Church are working closely with an organization called Love146 (www.Love146.org<\/a>) that works toward the abolition of child sex trafficking and exploitation through prevention and aftercare. As you may know by now, Love146 is working on an awareness campaign related to these issues surrounding the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

Many people in recent weeks have been asking me, \u201cHow can I get involved?\u201d In order to help address this question, I\u2019m attaching two documents to this email. One is the campaign overview that was put together by Love146 to communicate to the press and to organizations that might want to participate. The second is a \u201cWhat Can I Do to Get Involved\u201d document that the Love146 DFW Task Force has put together specifically for Dallas area churches who want to engage with this issue.<\/p>\n

Also attached to this email is a seven-day prayer guide that is designed to focus our prayers on specific issues related to human trafficking in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl. The problem of modern day slavery is so enormous that it can be difficult for us to feel like we are meaningfully engaged. But one thing we can do is pray. Please consider using the prayer guide for the next seven days, and when you reach the end simply start back at the beginning. It\u2019s exciting to think that many of us will be reflecting on the same Scripture passages and praying together about the same issues in the days leading up to the big event.<\/p>\n

One way to learn more and to get involved is to attend the awareness event being held at Irving Bible Church on January 28th at 7pm. We\u2019d like to see Christians from all over the metroplex come together for worship and prayer and to hear from Lamont Hiebert, co-founder of Love146.<\/p>\n
