\nI\u2019m not in the category of the authors below, but Kris just read this post and reminded me that Jesus Creed was rejected by five publishers before it was published. What kind of rejections have spurred you onwards?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Happens To The Best Of Us: Famous Author Rejection Letters<\/p>\n

Check out these excerpts from REAL famous author rejections:<\/p>\n

  1. Sylvia Plath:\u00a0There certainly isn\u2019t enough genuine talent for us to take notice.<\/em><\/li>\n
  2. Rudyard Kipling:\u00a0I\u2019m sorry Mr. Kipling, but you just don\u2019t know how to use the English language.<\/em><\/li>\n
  3. J. G. Ballard:\u00a0The author of this book is beyond psychiatric help.<\/em><\/li>\n
  4. Emily Dickinson:\u00a0[Your poems] are quite as remarkable for defects as for beauties and are generally devoid of true poetical qualities.<\/em><\/li>\n
  5. Ernest Hemingway (regarding\u00a0The Torrents of Spring<\/em>):\u00a0It would be extremely rotten taste, to say nothing of being horribly cruel, should we want to publish it.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Obviously, these famous author\u00a0rejection letter\u00a0phrases<\/a> have gone down in history for how outrageous they seem to us now.\u00a0The comments probably had more to do with the mood of the person writing them than with the quality of work.<\/p>\n

    It seems odd to us now that\u00a0Plath, Kipling, Ballard, Dickinson, and Hemingway\u00a0were rejected\u00a0so cruelly. But\u00a0these\u00a0comments\u00a0show us that\u00a0famous <\/em>author rejection letters are no different thannot-so-famous<\/em> author rejection letters!<\/p>\n

    Thank goodness these authors kept writing and submitting. Ask yourself: Where would we be if they\u00a0had<\/em> given up? We would have missed a lot of important literature!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
