We are fond of the word \u201crepent\u201d at times, and we learn that the Hebrew behind our \u201crepent\u201d is to turn (shuv<\/em>). But that is not the word used in Psalm 119:36-37, but its central idea is present in these two verses: the \u201cturning\u201d of learning.
\nThe turning of learning involves a positive and negative:
\nFirst, we are to \u201cincline\u201d our hearts toward God\u2019s communicative intent in Scripture \u2014 to the very words of God in Scripture. To turn toward God involves turning away from selfish gain (36).
\nSecond, we are to \u201cturn our eyes away from worthless things\u201d (37). This \u201cturn\u201d means to \u201cpass over\u201d (avar<\/em>).
\nThe turnings of learning is to say Yes to God and to say No to selfish gain and worthless things, to false glitter and vanity.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
