We\u2019re higher than the average.<br>\nMy colleague, Brad Nassif, has a podcast series called \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ancientfaithradio.com\/podcasts\/nassif\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Simply Orthodox<\/a>.\u201d I highly recommend Brad\u2019s series \u2014 it will introduce you to a gospel-centered Eastern Orthodoxy.<br>\nAnd Ginny Olson, my colleague, has produced a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northpark.edu\/home\/index.cfm?northpark=RNews.RNews_Story&amp;ID=2184\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">podcast about teenage girls<\/a> \u2014 her book is an exceptional source.<br>\nThe <a href=\"http:\/\/daddyroblog.blogs.com\/daddyroblog\/2007\/08\/hummer-in-the-h.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Alpha Male Hummingbird<\/a>.<br>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.barna.org\/FlexPage.aspx?Page=BarnaUpdateNarrow&amp;BarnaUpdateID=277\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Barna\u2019s new study<\/a> shows voters are more concerned about children than moral and spiritual issues.<br>\nI\u2019m willing to bet, and I\u2019m not a betting man, that Jesus would welcome both of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.enjoyinggodministries.com\/enjoying-god\/piper-grudem-dever-et-al-on-baptism-the-lords-table-and-church-membership-just-how-together-for-the-gospel-are-we\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">these groups<\/a> to the Table and then, just prior to the prayer, tell them to knock it off!<br>\nMaybe the best <a href=\"http:\/\/zoecarnate.com\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Website for Websites<\/a> in the World!<br>\n1. Chicago may give tickets to the Wiener Mobile, but it is the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2007\/TRAVEL\/traveltips\/08\/02\/chicago.hotdogs\/index.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Center of the Planet for hot dogs<\/a>. But I must admit to something: we saw more hot dog stands in Copenhagen than I\u2019ve ever seen in Chicago.<br>\n2. Kris and I know we have been dealt a fortunate hand when it comes to travel, so I wanted to know if <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2007\/TRAVEL\/08\/17\/disappointing.destinations\/index.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">this piece<\/a> on the 10 most disappointing places and the 10 best places resonated with me. I think we generally don\u2019t like famous places (though I loved the ruins in Rome\u2019s Forum), and always find small places most memorable. So I\u2019ll tell what I like most: an evening in Italy in which the sun goes down gently. Preferably near the water, but it doesn\u2019t matter. Just give me an evening in Italy and I\u2019ll say \u201cThis is the best place in the world to visit.\u201d<br>\n3. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/nationworld\/chi-history_swansonaug19,1,1291671.story\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Is history becoming history<\/a>?<br>\n4 . A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/custom\/religion\/chi-ap-soldierretreat,1,3357794.story\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">kind of ministry<\/a> sensitive we need.<br>\n5. Kris and I take a walk everyday, world without end. On weekends we walk at Independence Grove, a wonderful combination of prairie grasses, water, and walking paths. The Chicago Tribune published a picture of our walk place \u2014 a couple under an umbrella. We forgot our umbrella and got soaked.<br>\n<a class=\"imagelink decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jesuscreed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/couple-walking.jpg\" title=\"couple-walking.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jesuscreed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/couple-walking.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"couple-walking.jpg\"><\/a><br>\n6. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/video\/#\/video\/living\/2007\/08\/21\/vo.rottweiler.nurses.kitten.wgrz\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">A mom is a mom is a mom<\/a> even when being a dog-mom with a cat!<br>\n7. <a href=\"http:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/ncaaf\/news?slug=ap-59-year-oldlinebacker&amp;prov=ap&amp;type=lgns\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">This <\/a>makes me want to try out for our college\u2019s golf team. (HT: Ted Gossard)<br>\n8. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbs46.com\/news\/13955560\/detail.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Would you vote for this or not<\/a>? (I would.)<br>\n<a class=\"imagelink decorated-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.jesuscreed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/baggies.jpg\" title=\"baggies.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jesuscreed.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/08\/baggies.thumbnail.jpg\" alt=\"baggies.jpg\"><\/a><br>\n9. On Christianne Amanpour\u2019s series: the use of the word \u201cwarriors\u201d didn\u2019t sit right with me. It\u2019s a pejorative term up front that casts all the groups, with considerable varieties in each religion, into a militaristic and violent mode.<br>\nSports:<br>\nUndoubtedly, the commentators for Monday Night Football brutalized Rex Grossman. They were one-note Charlies who could say nothing but bad \u2014 and if someone slipped in something good they had to say \u201cbut when he was bad he was horrible.\u201d  Ahem. Excuse me. When Grossman left the game, the Bears were ahead 10-7. They were playing the Super Bowl Champions. Stick to commentary instead of evaluation.<br>\nDid you notice the Cubs this week?
