I see these megachurch events as theatrical performances of the Christmas story. Is there a place for such in the Church?<br>\n1. Rowling<\/a>, including statements about her faith.<br>\n4. A bleak piece by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/news\/opinion\/chi-071223keller-column,0,7811633.column\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Garrison Keillor<\/a>. An interview with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2006\/06\/01\/garden\/01keillor.html?pagewanted=1&amp;_r=1\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Keillor <\/a>and some pictures of his home.<br>\n5. Bob Smietana, of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tennessean.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=2007712250354\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Tennessean<\/a>, writes a fine piece about Mary and Protestants. (Yes, he interviewed yours truly.)<br>\nTake a break, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theadvocates.org\/quiz.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">take a quiz<\/a>. (HT: pepy)<br>\n6. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2007\/12\/25\/opinion\/25brooks.html?_r=1&amp;hp&amp;oref=login\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Sidneys 2007<\/a>.<br>\n7. Capital punishment divides the Christian community; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2007\/12\/26\/us\/26death.html?_r=1&amp;hp=&amp;adxnnl=1&amp;oref=slogin&amp;adxnnlx=1198675021-cLlRlU7tXTXRKbmqeYm\/KA\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here is a piece in the NY Times<\/a> and of all the books I\u2019ve read, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&amp;location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FLiving-Next-Door-Death-House%2Fdp%2F0802860923%3Fie%3DUTF8%26s%3Dbooks%26qid%3D1198675190%26sr%3D1-1&amp;tag=jescre-20&amp;linkCode=ur2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">this book<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=jescre-20&amp;l=ur2&amp;o=1\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" style=\"border:none !important;margin:0px !important\"> by David Clinton Owens and Virginia Stem Owens is my recommendation.<br>\n8. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.duregger.net\/2007\/12\/26\/life-lived-in-the-margins\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">McKnight and Mozart<\/a> brought together for the first time! (Thanks sam i is).<br>\n9. Lots of evangelicals jumped up and down for joy when Bauckham argued for the reliability of the Gospels on the basis of eyewitnesses, but his specifics are not without some need for greater clarification and support. See one response to Bauckham by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bookreviews.org\/pdf\/5650_6184.pdf\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Chris Tuckett<\/a>. I\u2019m inclined to think Bauckham has much in his favor, but my read of his stuff is that in this oral hypothesis at times he goes beyond what we can really know.<br>\n10. HT to <a href=\"http:\/\/bradboydston.blogspot.com\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Brad Boydston<\/a> for this link to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.getreligion.org\/?p=3001\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Terry Mattingly on racial reconciliation<\/a> in American churches \u2014 where is it found?<br>\nSports:<br>\nWhat about that crazy Bears game!<br>\nGood <a href=\"http:\/\/sportsillustrated.cnn.com\/si_blogs\/scorecard\/daily_list\/index.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">lists<\/a>.<br>\nOn steroids: nothing good will come until the players and the players union willingly say \u201cIt\u2019s time to be open and honest. Test us for what you want; we are honest.\u201d As long as the union protects the players, the players can appeal to the union to protect them from transparency.
