I wrote on this blog long ago that I was going to try using Chris Wright\u2019s The Mission of God<\/b> in my Introduction to the Bible class this semester; it\u2019s a bit hefty for first-year students but this letter confirms that it was a good choice. I am thankful today for my students.<\/i>

<\/i>Hey Professor McKnight,<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

I had to email you because I just got done reading The Mission of God: Unlocking the Bible\u2019s Grand Narrative<\/a> $\"\"$
\n<\/em><\/strong>! I feel like the lamest college student \u2014 it\u2019s Friday night! I just
\nhad to let you know how amazingly influential this book has been. It was
\na hard book to read no doubt, it got really lengthy at times, but the
\nlast few chapters just tied it all together. It all made perfect sense.
\nI was so frustrated with this book so many nights, struggling to stay
\nawake, but I can\u2019t believe how much incredible information it contains.
\nI loved it, end of story. <\/p>\n

\nI feel privileged because here before me I
\nhave the most meaningful piece of material in my life: the Bible, yet
\nto be read. I am so glad that the first time I read the Bible in full
\nit will be with all the tools provided by Wright and your class. I am
\nso excited to read the Bible and to discover even more clearly all the
\npoints Wright elaborated on, and ultimately be in complete awe of God\u2019s
\nword. I finally feel \u201cprepared\u201d to read the Bible, if that\u2019s even
\npossible. I never have read the Bible simply because I\u00a0 never knew
\nwhere to start, but now I feel as if I can work my way through it.\u00a0 I
\ncan read it and finally begin to understand the unfathomable importance
\nbehind the stories. I know reading the Bible is a never ending journey
\nthat can never be fully understood, but I am finally ready and excited
\nto start this long overdue journey. This book has truly been the most
\ninfluential book I have ever read.<\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

So I guess in conclusion I emailed you to say thank you for assigning
\nthis book, though I never thought I\u2019d say that. This book has been a
\ncomplete privilege to read. It was all completely worth it in the end.<\/p>\n
