Is there any serious thinking or discussion about the homes in which pastors and priests and bishops live?\u00a0<\/strong>It is not just Roman Catholic bishops or archbishops who dwell in opulence. In fact, many Protestant pastors dwell in nothing less than luxury. Steven Furtick\u2019s home was the attention of some media not long back, and Mark Driscoll\u2019s salary has been probed, and that\u2019s just a start.<\/p>\n

How does your church determine the salary of pastors\/priests?\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Pope Francis himself has definitely taken a pay grade in housing, and is showing a better way.<\/p>\n

Clearly, \u201clifestyles of the rich and religious\u201d doesn\u2019t cut it for Pope Francis.<\/p>\n

The pontiff has said it \u201cbreaks my heart\u201d to see priests and nuns driving the latest-model cars.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s blasted \u201cairport bishops\u201d who spend more time jet-setting than tending to their flocks.<\/p>\n

And he\u2019s warned against church leaders who bear the \u201cpsychology of princes.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Vatican fired one such \u201cprince\u201d last year:\u00a0German Bishop Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 aka \u201cThe Bishop of Bling\u201d \u2014 who spent $43 million to remodel his opulent pad.<\/p>\n

(Bronze window frames? $2.4 million. Getting on the wrong side of the Pope? Far more pricey.)<\/p>\n

\u201cGod save us from a worldly Church with superficial spiritual and pastoral trappings!\u201d Francis said in his book-length\u00a0blueprint for the church<\/a>.<\/p>\n
