Moral equivalence<\/i> seems to be the new label for some of Obama\u2019s stances,\u00a0 though that expression carries with it some hefty critical freight and it needs to be spelled out carefully.<\/p>\nP<\/span>resident Obama made an earnest effort \u2014 as
\nis his way in matters of discord \u2014 to split the difference with the
\nIslamic world. His speech essentially amounted to: \u201cWe did that, you
\ndid this, tit-for-tat, now we\u2019re even, and can\u2019t we all just get
\nalong?\u201d He should be congratulated for expressing a desire for peace
\nand for gently reminding the Muslim world of the way to reform, even if
\nhe did so while inflating Western sins.<\/i><\/p>\nBut the problem with
\nsuch moral equivalence is that it equates things that are, well, not
