\"Pentecost.jpg\"<\/span>Peter\u2019s \u201csermon\u201d \u2014 which is more interpretation of event than anything else \u2014 explains that the tongue-speaking community, of which he is a part, is not some lunatic fringe but the very embodiment of God\u2019s promises through the prophet Joel.<\/p>\n

But Peter goes immediately from Joel to Jesus, the \u201cGod-accredited\u201d man through miracles, wonders and signs. Notice, too, that these things were done by God in their presence through Jesus. Acts of God is the emphasis.<\/p>\n

Again, God handed him over; you put him to death unjustly; but God overturned that injustice by raising him from the dead. In fact, death could not hold him \u2026 why? Scripture (Psalm 16).<\/p>\n

Through and through what happened at Pentecost and what happened with Jesus \u2014 miracles to death to resurrection \u2014 where acts of God. This is emphasized in Beverly Gaventa\u2019s commentary (The Acts of the Apostles (Abingdon New Testament Commentaries)<\/a>\"\")<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201d \u2018I saw the Lord always before me.
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Because he is at my right hand,
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I will not be shaken. <\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 my body also will rest in hope,<\/p>\n

\u00a0 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
