<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth\u201d (John 1:14). Flesh and Glory \u2014 an odd combination \u2014 but that is what Christmas is.<\/p>\n Christmas is the Impossible, the joining into perfect oneness \u2014 in one Person, the Word who is Life and Light \u2014 the Glory and the Flesh.<\/p>\n God\u2019s glory tabernacled in the original tabernacle and Temple; now that Glory is personally present in the Word made Flesh.<\/p>\n The Glory is the glory of the \u201cOne and Only\u201d \u2014 an allusion to the Shema and to the Old Testament word \u201cechad\u201d (one), the One and Only God.
