I call him a hedge fund Democrat.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div>6. <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2010\/07\/04\/AR2010070404536.html?nav=hcmodule\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Thomas Jefferson<\/a><\/b> said a constitution would be good for twenty years and then a new one had to be written. Never heard that before: \u201c<span class=\"Apple-style-span\">\u201cThe earth belongs always to the living generation,\u201d<a href=\"http:\/\/www.let.rug.nl\/usa\/P\/tj3\/writings\/brf\/jefl81.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Jefferson wrote to James Madison<\/a>, pondering the forces behind the French Revolution. \u201cEvery constitution, then, and every law, naturally expires at the end of 19 years. If it be enforced longer, it is an act of force and not of right.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div>7. <b><a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/2010\/07\/02\/ipad-kindle-reading-study\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">iPad vs. Kindle<\/a><\/b>: \u201c<span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, sans-serif;line-height: 19px\">It takes longer to read books on a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/tag\/kindle\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Kindle 2<\/a>\u00a0or an\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mashable.com\/category\/ipad\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">iPad<\/a>\u00a0versus a printed book, Jakob Nielsen of product development consultancy Nielsen Norman Group discovered in a recent usability survey.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, sans-serif;line-height: 19px\">The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.useit.com\/alertbox\/ipad-kindle-reading.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">study<\/a>\u00a0found that reading speeds declined by 6.2% on the iPad and 10.7% on the Kindle compared to print. However, Nielsen conceded that the differences in reading speed between the two devices were not \u201cstatistically significant because of the data\u2019s fairly high variability\u201d \u2014 in other words, the study did not prove that the iPad allowed for faster reading than the Kindle.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/jesuscreed\/assets_c\/2010\/07\/Coins-16187.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.beliefnet.com\/jesuscreed\/assets_c\/2010\/07\/Coins-thumb-275x217-16187.jpg\" width=\"275\" height=\"217\" alt=\"Coins.jpg\" class=\"mt-image-right\" style=\"float: right;margin: 0 0 20px 20px\"><\/a><\/span>8. <b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/07\/07\/business\/economy\/07generation.html?_r=1&amp;src=me&amp;ref=homepage\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">College grads and unemployed<\/a><\/b>: \u201c<span class=\"Apple-style-span\">\u201cI don\u2019t think I fully understood the severity of the situation I had graduated into,\u201d he said, speaking in effect for an age group \u2014 the so-called millennials, 18 to 29 \u2014 whose unemployment rate of nearly 14 percent approaches the levels of that group in\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/topics.nytimes.com\/top\/reference\/timestopics\/subjects\/g\/great_depression_1930s\/index.html?inline=nyt-classifier\" title=\"Recent and archival news about the Great Depression.\" class=\"meta-classifier decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">the Great Depression<\/a>. And then he veered into the optimism that, polls show, is persistently, perhaps perversely, characteristic of millennials today. \u201cI am absolutely certain that my job hunt will eventually pay off,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\">For young adults, the prospects in the workplace, even for the college-educated, have rarely been so bleak. Apart from the 14 percent who are unemployed and seeking work, as Scott Nicholson is, 23 percent are not even seeking a job, according to data from the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/topics.nytimes.com\/top\/reference\/timestopics\/organizations\/b\/bureau_of_labor_statistics\/index.html?inline=nyt-org\" title=\"More articles about Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S.\" class=\"meta-org decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Bureau of Labor Statistics<\/a>.
