It assumes, probably by faith alone, that God will answer the prayer and the congregation of Israel, as after the Exodus, will be singing the songs of deliverance all over again.

God answers the prayers of the poor and the weak. So the psalmist pleas with the congregation of Israel to sing praises to YHWH.

In fact, the psalmist goes universal on us: “All of the ends of the earth must be mindful [or remember] and turn to YHWH” (v. 27). And he thinks of future generations: they too will praise the Lord.

As Goldingay concludes, the experience of abandonment can lead those who suffer to a different set of facts: to remember God’s past actions, to remind God of his past involvement, to urge God to change things, and to believe this set of facts about God.

Psa. 22:0 To the leader: according to The Deer of the Dawn.
