Lisle, IL \u2014 April 25, 2018\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 Two innovative theological educators are the newest deans of Northern Seminary. Ingrid Faro, Ph.D., who most recently directed the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS) Masters Programs, has been appointed Northern\u2019s Dean of Academic Affairs. At the same time, Jason Gile, Ph.D., who was Northern\u2019s Interim Dean of Academic Affairs since 2017, has taken on a new role as Dean of Program Development and Innovation.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>As Dean of Academic Affairs and Associate Professor of Old Testament, Dr. Faro will lead faculty, course scheduling, degree programs, and the library. She also will implement Northern\u2019s strategic plan for academic programs.<\/p>\n

While at TEDS Dr. Faro cultivated many skills that will serve her well at Northern. In particular, she worked with a team to revise the M.Div., academic MAs and MA\/TS. She was Affiliate Professor at TEDS and Assistant Professor of Old Testament at Scandinavian School of Theology in Uppsala, Sweden. Ordained as a minister by the Fellowship of Christian Assemblies, she\u2019s been an interim pastor and a director of women\u2019s ministries.<\/div>\n

Dr. Faro says her goal as dean is to \u201ccontinue building a vibrant community of learners devoted to Christ, dedicated to prayer and Scripture, led by the Spirit.\u201d Her priority is \u201cleading with love, humility, and boldness\u201d so the gospel can have maximum impact on the world.<\/div>\n

The faculty is excited about the energy and innovation Dr. Faro brings. Cherith Fee Nordling, associate professor of theology, says, \u201cIngrid Faro carries her ordained and assigned mantle of authority with humility, grace, and wisdom. As dean, she will give strong leadership and support to the faculty and navigate the concerns of the race and gender task force as she holds us to the over-arching standards and the daily commitments of life together.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Scot McKnight, the Julius R. Mantey Chair of New Testament, adds, \u201cIngrid Faro brings pastoral giftedness, interpersonal skills, and theological vision. This combination makes her a pastor-professor as much as a dean and leader. Expect Northern to become a school shaped more by compassion and kindness.\u201d<\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>After leading the self-study process that resulted in Northern\u2019s being reaccredited for 10 years, Dr. Gile now will lead the implementation of the ATS recommendations, continue working on the overall assessment and design new education programs.<\/div>\n

About his new position he says, \u201cThrough new, innovative programs and partnerships, Northern has a clear vision and compelling strategy to advance the Seminary\u2019s training of effective pastoral leaders in the next five years. I am excited to work with President Shiell and other leaders to advance this mission.\u201d<\/div>\n
