One site, <a title=\"Eterni.me - Simply Become Immortal\" href=\"http:\/\/eterni.me\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Eterni.me<\/a>, (as described in <a title=\"Creepy New Startup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fastcoexist.com\/3026132\/a-creepy-new-startup-wants-to-create-living-avatars-for-dead-people\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\" class=\" decorated-link\">this report<\/a>)\u00a0will create a <a class=\"zem_slink decorated-link\" title=\"Avatar (computing)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Avatar_%28computing%29\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">virtual avatar<\/a> and by using\u00a0<a class=\"zem_slink decorated-link\" title=\"Artificial intelligence\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Artificial_intelligence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">artificial intelligence<\/a> will allow you to chat with someone even after they have died.<\/p>\n<p>There have been attempts in the past to preserve physical bodies. We have used mummification, cryogenic freezing and other means of preserving the body. In this case, we are preserving the thoughts and memories of someone for others to view at will. The soul may be gone \u2013 the essence of the physical person will be taken away. However, with this type of technology, a person may never leave this Earth theoretically.<\/p>\n<p>Our souls may go to Heaven or Hell. Yet, our digital lives will remain here in a purgatory state of online remembrance.
