D.A. Horton<\/a>, the author of this tiny book has a unique experience which helps in how he has presented the Gospel. He was born in inner city Kansas City, Kansas, and was \u201cheaded to the grave or prison\u201d before God called him to salvation and into evangelism and Gospel rap<\/a>. His rapper name is Azriel.<\/p>\n

This book combines an explanation of the Gospel using that word \u201cgospel\u201d as an acronym for the steps to Christian salvation<\/a>:<\/p>\n

G \u2013 God\u2019s Image<\/p>\n

O \u2013 Open Fellowship<\/p>\n

S \u2013 Sin Introduced<\/p>\n

P \u2013 Penalty and Price<\/p>\n

E \u2013 Enter Jesus<\/p>\n

L \u2013 Life Everlasting<\/p>\n

Each of these elements of the Christian salvation are explained in the book, along with a Gospel rap verse. He ends the book with what the author claims is a \u201cthebonical\u201d glossary (think of a mix between theology and \u201cebonics\u201d). This glossary is essentially a hip-hop dictionary for people who are not urbanized.<\/p>\n

I recently heard D.A. Horton (not to be confused with D.A. Carson<\/a>\u2013 another well-accomplished theologian. You can find a review of one of his books here<\/a>.) speak at a plantMidwest<\/a> conference. He is thorough in his theology. He also has the promising ability to contextualize the Gospel to people in an urban setting. Though compact, this book was packed with good nuggets. I enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to read about what it means to be a Christian.
