God\u2019s Gay Agenda by Sandra Turnbull<\/h2>\n

God\u2019s Gay Agenda<\/em> by Sandra Turnbull was a frustrating read. I realize that when I review books like this, it can be controversial. As a committed conservative Christian, I may be asked from time to time to speak about, and review ideas about which I disagree. This is one of those ideas. The premise of the book (based on the author\u2019s personal experience) is that God does have an agenda for gays and lesbians. The author believes that the Bible promotes homosexuality.<\/p>\n

She uses the \u201cclobber\u201d passages, and primarily Jesus\u2019s words about eunuchs (Matthew 19:12) as the basis for her positive view of homosexuality. The conclusions she reaches are similar to other theologians who believe that the Bible views homosexuality in a positive light. Unfortunately, she writes as if she is not certain that the Bible proves her case. At times, she writes that a passage can possibly prove her view. Later she will state that the passage does prove her viewpoint. The passage about the centurion and his servant in Matthew 8:5-13 and Luke 7:1-10 is one such example.<\/p>\n

It is important to understand that as Christians, we can learn from other Christians even if we disagree on a certain viewpoint. One can also improve the understanding of the issues by reading people with whom one disagrees. For that reason, I believe this book can be valuable read.<\/p>\n
