People need to be watching the events unfolding right now in Iraq. Iraq is the home of the former kingdom of Babylon<\/a>. Both Syria and Iraq have played important roles in the Bible and will play future roles in Biblical prophecy<\/a>. The Islamic State of Iraq<\/a> and Syria (also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant), a daughter organization of the al-Qaeda terrorist organization has made tremendous progress in taking over large parts of both Syria and Iraq. As the video below from ABC News reports, the government of Iraq is asking for American troop assistance even though they previously asked the United States government to end their security agreement years ago.<\/p>\n

What is most disturbing about this is that no one is really going to pay attention to this. Americans are war-weary and the Europeans are trying to deal with other issues, namely Ukraine and Russia. Yet, the dangers of this terrorist organization should not be ignored.<\/p>\n

They have live-tweeted\u00a0amputations<\/a>, carried out public\u00a0crucifixions<\/a>\u00a0and have been\u00a0disavowed<\/a>\u00a0as too extreme by al-Qaeda. The Iraqi government has been asking for more than a year for surveillance and armed drones to combat the ISIS insurgency that has gained strength from battlefield successes in neighboring Syria.\u00a0Northern Iraq has become a way station for insurgents who routinely travel between the two countries and are seeding the Syrian war<\/a>\u2018s violence in Iraq and beyond. President Obama says that \u201call options are open.\u201d The problem is that Americans will not want to go back to a country which they have spent so much money to invade and restructure in the process. Add to all this the price of oil. As Iraq takes a downturn, the price of oil takes an upturn.<\/p>\n
