PDD \u2013 Prayer Deficit Disorder<\/h1>\n
I remember the days of old;
\nI meditate on all Your works;
\nI muse on the work of Your hands. I spread out my hands to You;
\nMy soul longs for You like a thirsty land. Selah
\nAnswer me speedily, O LORD;
\nMy spirit fails!
\nDo not hide Your face from me,
\nLest I be like those who go down into the pit.
\nCause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,
\nFor in You do I trust;
\nCause me to know the way in which I should walk,
\nFor I lift up my soul to You.
\n(Psalms 143:5-8 NKJV)<\/p>\n
You may have heard of a variety of abbreviations for different disorders.<\/a>\u00a0Some of them include the following:<\/p>\n
PTSD \u2013 Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder<\/p>\n
OCD \u2013 Obsessive Compulsive Disorder<\/p>\n
ODD \u2013 Oppositional Defiant Disorder<\/p>\n
AD \u2013 Attachment Disorder<\/p>\n
BPD \u2013 Borderline Personality Disorder<\/p>\n
GAD \u2013 General Anxiety Disorder<\/p>\n
There is another disorder that the Bible talks about: PDD (Prayer Deficit Disorder).<\/p>\n
We all easily fall into the possibilities of PDD (prayer deficit disorder). Like ADD (attention deficit disorder<\/a>), our attention can easily drift. David reminds God that David\u2019s spirit fails him, even though he spends time with God. David is reporting the symptoms of his PDD.<\/p>\n
David asks God to answer quickly. David needs relief. You and I need relief from PDD. We need to know that God will answer our prayers quickly. We too fall easily into the trap of letting our prayer life drift, simply because we think that our prayers will not be answered. But it does not have to be this way. A disciplined prayer life begins when we concentrate our prayers to God and keep our spirit focused on Him. As we see God answer, we can overcome the symptoms of PDD. As God hears our requests, answers our prayers, delivers us from our difficulties and revives our spirit, we learn that we can overcome this PDD.<\/p>\n
