Heroes and Demigods Before the Flood<\/h2>\n

Genesis 6:4<\/p>\n

The Nephilim are known as the \u201cfallen one\u201d, or \u201cgiants.\u201d (Numbers 13:1-33). One theory about verse suggests that these giants, known as the \u201csons of God\u201d were the line of Seth. Another theory states that they were fallen angels.<\/p>\n

The Bible says that \u201cthey were the powerful men of old, the famous men\u201d. Another passage in Deuteronomy 33:2 describes God appearing with thousands of holy ones. The picture of God in this passage sounds like the origins of many other religions and myths. The gods of Roman mythology<\/a>, Greek mythology<\/a>, Norse mythology<\/a>, and Germanic mythology<\/a> all have similar stories of demigods \u2013 men who were part-divine, part-man, who rule under the power of an all-powerful god.<\/p>\n

These demigods were heroes in other mythologies. They were probably also heroes in Biblical accounts as well. If this is true, who were these Nephilum<\/a>? The Bible recounts Satan approaching God with a set of angels, which use the same word as Genesis 6:4 (Job 1:6, Job 2:1, Job 38:7). The Bible states in Jude 6 and 2 Peter 2:4 that they were demonic and rebellious angels. These Nephilum may have been trying to stop God\u2019s plan of salvation (thus the need for the flood). But the people were amazed by these demigod heroes. They were famous and powerful.<\/p>\n
