Walk Lovewards<\/h1>\n
\u201cAnd this is love: that we walk according to His commands. This is the command as you have heard it from the beginning: you must walk in love<\/span><\/em>.\u201d (2 John 6, HCSB)<\/p>\n
What does it mean to walk in love? To put it another way, what does it mean to walk \u201clovewards\u201d?<\/p>\n
I can walk forward and backward. I can walk sidewards (or sidestep). I can climb upwards and downwards. I can walk in many different directions, depending on the circumstance.<\/p>\n
Jesus tells us to walk lovewards. What does that mean? He defined the way we are to relate to others. He gave us two commands which tell us the direction in which we are to love.<\/p>\n
First, He told us to love God. This is walking lovewards in a vertical direction<\/span><\/em>.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe said to him, \u201cLove the Lord your God<\/em><\/span> with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.\u201d (Matthew 22:37, HCSB)<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Second, He told us to love one another. This is walking lovewards in a horizontal direction<\/span><\/em>.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cThe second is like it: Love your neighbor<\/span><\/em> as yourself.\u201d (Matthew 22:39, HCSB)<\/p>\n
Jesus summarized the commands into these two simple ways: love one another and love God. Walk lovewards with others and walk lovewards with God.<\/p>\n
