this is the life of a barista and sometimes counselor bartender\u00a0 pastor. these purveyors of liquid gold these experts on how to human \u2014 know coffee cup rings on a table mean life is happening.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Poem: \u201cCoffee Shop Hullabaloo\u201d<\/p>\n

The coffee shop is abuzz this morning with the usual noises:
\nlaughter, conversation, the whirl of coffee bean grinders,
\na tssk tssk of the steam wand and the gulp of satisfaction.<\/p>\n

beautiful complex humanity commonality
\nsurrounding their daily search for the
\nlife giving narcotic. their lives won\u2019t start
\nuntil they ingest the liquid black gold.
\ncoffee cup rings on a table mean life is happening.<\/p>\n

a woman who just had her third child \u2014
\noverwhelmed in mind body and spirit.
\nshe stays positive with solo trips to the coffee shop.
\nshe stares off into nothingness in silence.
\nthe world can\u2019t slowdown enough for her most days.<\/p>\n

a man who loves his daughter without return.
\nagony weeps from his eyes \u2014
\nspeaks volumes of emptiness and loss.
\nit\u2019s a sad story to see unfold.
\nthe world is a place he longs to leave behind.<\/p>\n

a young girl who sits in on a stool at the counter \u2014
\nglimpsing out of the corner of each eye
\nat all who pass by her. Its like she is looking
\nin a mirror hoping to be discovered.
\nthe world is her vanity.<\/p>\n

a group of four at a table \u2014
\nshout from the roof tops of their religion
\nand love for their neighbors. but when the barista
\ndoesn\u2019t move fast enough their words cut them to pieces.
\nthe world is their true god.<\/p>\n

a family who treats the coffee shop as a playground \u2014
\nfor their kids dangling from the jungle gym coffee table.
\nkids crying\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0the peace disturbed for
\nall the digital nomads who don\u2019t want kids.
\nthe world seems owned by little creatures.<\/p>\n

a couple of friends meet every morning \u2014
\ntalking about all the issues of the day.
\ncourage and wisdom grow after several cups \u2014
\nof coffee\u00a0 \u00a0 a stimulant for the brave at heart.
\nthe world is their puzzle to solve.<\/p>\n

caffeine surges through veins \u2014
\nhearts fluttering pupils dilating
\nhands shaking loosing lips and hearts
\nrevealing all of humanity\u2019s \u2014
\naches\u00a0 \u00a0desires\u00a0 \u00a0lusts\u00a0 \u00a0dreams<\/p>\n

this is the life of a barista and sometimes
\ncounselor\u00a0 \u00a0 bartender\u00a0 \u00a0 pastor.
\nthese purveyors of liquid gold
\nthese experts on how to human \u2014
\nknow coffee cup rings on a table mean life is happening.<\/p>\n

In this moment,
\nI\u2019m caught up in the hullabaloo and say to myself,
