Rev. Bill Metzger passed away peacefully this morning at Denton Regional Medical Center. He was 73 years old. His wife, our consulting minister Rev. Diana Heath, was with him when he passed. Rev. Diana and Bill\u2019s children, David and Christine, have been at his side since he was moved from ICU to hospice care on Thursday. According to Bill\u2019s wishes, the family will have him cremated.<\/span><\/p>\n

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 6 at Denton Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1111 Cordell Street, Denton Texas.<\/p>\n

Please keep the Metzger-Heath family in your prayers. <\/p>\n

I was impressed with Bill from the first time I met him, when I was Chair of the Ministerial Search Committee and he and Diana came to interview with us. He was kind and gentle, but it was clear there was a strong intellect and a strong spirituality about him. He spent twelve years as editor for the Theosophical Society<\/a> \u2013 I tried a time or two to pick his brain about those years, but never got very far.<\/p>\n

Bill was not in good health by the time he came to Denton. I always enjoyed listening to him preach, but I couldn\u2019t help wishing I had heard him ten years earlier, when his body and voice were still as strong as his mind.<\/p>\n
