I\u2019ve made an important change to the opening of the ThruWay Christians founding document.<\/a> In its entirety it now reads like this:<\/p>\n

We are Christians who embrace both the conservative Christian\u2019s belief in and fidelity to the core message of the Gospels, and the liberal Christian\u2019s dedication to inclusiveness and social justice.<\/em><\/p>\n

Rather than continuing to choose between these two roads, we hereby establish the following, which we recognize and affirm as a thruway running between them.<\/em><\/p>\n

Then it goes on to the sixteen ThruWay Christian tenets.<\/p>\n

I excised from the opening the statement about finding liberal\/progressive theology too tenuous, and conservative theology too (basically) mean-spirited. I find this more affirming.<\/p>\n

Thanks to all who are doing such a wonderful job of getting out into the world this understanding of Christianity, the future of which is \u2026 well, now.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
