<\/a>\n<\/a>Today my friend and fellow Patheos blogger Ben Corey posted a piece entitled Why You\u2019re Completely Unable To Judge Caitlyn Jenner (Or Anyone Else)<\/a>. The point of Ben\u2019s essay was to say \u2026 well, this:<\/p>\n
Only God knows why<\/em> Caitlyn is transgender, and therefore, only God can judge (a) if she\u2019s sinning or not, and (b) if she has any level of culpability in it. \u2026 You\u2019ll never\u00a0know the full story, and you\u00a0have to know it<\/em> in order to judge properly. \u2026\u00a0Only God knows [the full story]\u2014and therefore, only God can judge.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Because Ben\u2019s piece is certain to go viral,* I felt it important\u00a0to offer a quick counterpoint to it.<\/p>\n
I wholeheartedly disagree with Ben\u2019s proposition that since only God knows Caitlyn\u2019s whole story, only God can judge whether or not her coming out and living as herself means that she is sinning.<\/p>\n
The simple truth is that I don\u2019t<\/em>\u00a0have to know Caitlyn Jenner\u2019s full\u00a0story in order to properly\u00a0judge\u00a0whether or not her being transgender means that she is sinning.<\/p>\n
It doesn\u2019t. At all. Because being LGBT is not, and should never be considered, a moral<\/em> condition.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s insane that anyone has to say this, but, again: There is no sin in being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or questioning.<\/em><\/p>\n
And it\u2019s high time for all Christians to let go of the extremely dangerous notion\u00a0that it\u2019s even remotely\u00a0possible that, to God, there is.<\/p>\n
And that is<\/em> the end of that story.<\/p>\n
